Frequently asked questions

Should I send an invoice for a retainer?

Yes. Send one invoice for the retainer when the client books, then a final invoice for the remaining balance. Mention the retainer amount and date in the notes so the client can see how the total was reached.

Do photographers charge sales tax?

It varies by state. Some tax prints and products only, others also tax certain photography services. Check your state's rules or ask an accountant.

What's the difference between a quote and an invoice?
